Progress on the applications

For applicants for the Twinning in Action project:

(1) For Palestinians.  We have now offered places to the leaders' group from Palestine who will be part of the November/ December exchange, and we are in the middle of selecting the students' group from Palestine who will be part of the January exchange. Applications for these exchanges are now closed. Applications from Palestine are still open for the women's exchange in March, and we hope that these will be finalised in the next week or so, so that we have a good long time to do the visa applications and prepare for the visits.

(2) For people from the UK.  There is less pressure of time for applicants from the UK - If you are interested to take part in any of these projects, we still welcome your application: the forms are on the Twinning in Action website.

Dates for the visit

We have now been able to book dates for the Palestinian leaders to submit their applications... what a very long process it is. They will put them in on 5th November and then need three weeks before they can expect them back. We are therefore working on the following dates for the Twinning in Action project:

Youth workers (leaders) - 27th Nov (travelling from Palestine)/ 28th Nov (first project day) TILL 7th December (final event)/ 8th December (travelling to Palestine)

Students - January

Women - March

School students - June

Further project visits - details follow.

Visa problems

The planning visit went well and the project should be great BUT we are struggling with the UK visa system and currently can't manage to get the visas even submitted! Have been waiting since 2nd October.... We've taken this up with everyone we can think of and still hope to bring our youth workers over at the end of November or in December...

Objectives of the Twinning in Action project

The objectives of this project are:

For CADFA and Dar Assadaqa:
To build on our methods of twinning for human rights
To create understanding between young people so they care about each other.
To integrate the exchanges and on-going twinning work of three ‘sectors’
To develop and strengthen the leadership teams in both countries so that this work can continue to extend

For twinning organisations:
To strengthen the links with partner twinning organisations in the other country, using the methods of CADFA
To create  an opportunity for young people from their organisations to visit the partner organisations  in order  to develop the ‘twinning links’

For the youth workers from the UK and Palestine:
To  meet youth workers from the other country, learn about their lives and share their skills
To learn about CADFA’s  youth exchanges and of ‘twinning’ work with young people
To enable them to work together with youth workers from the other country to prepare, lead, host and evaluate youth exchanges and follow-up twinning work

For the young people from the UK and Palestine:
To meet young people from the UK and Palestine, learn about their country and culture and compare similarities and differences in their lives.
To increase their awareness of human rights issues and to challenge discrimination

To give them an opportunity to learn new skills and express their experience through creative projects
