Feedback from the UK young people... IT WAS GREAT!

The CADFA Youth Visit was just great. It was great to see new faces and new people and get to know them and how their life is … in a couple of days I really got to know them. It felt like we have known each other for a long time. TBH they’re not just friends, at the end of the day they are family and our own. And I wish to see them again soon and wish them the best of luck.

The youth visit was an amazing opportunity that I am very happy I was involved with. Learning some Arabick, playing games, and learning about different aspects of the Palestinians' lives was incredibly interesting and enjoyable. It has made me care more and be more knowledgeable about Palestine and I definitely would love to spend more time learning about the occupation and being involved. I very much look forward to seeing the group again and visiting Palestine.

The visit was an incredible experience, that can be found nowhere else. It meant that I learned questions I had about Palestine that can only be found first hand. I met a very lovely group of people who I will continue to stay in contact with. The main aim for the Palestinians was to take a small group of people and tell them their story and then for them to pass it on. It's such an effective methos as the media coverage on Palestine is next to none. The task has to fall into the hands of groups like CADFA to ensure that their story can be spread and their cause helped.

In this project I went on a residential with the Palestinians to Norfok and did various activities in London like going on a tourist day and doing drama. I really enjoyed taking part in the project, especially going to the beach and playing games with th e other kids.
I learned a lot about the situation in Palestine and how the occupation has impacted their daily lives, but I also learned a lot about Palestinian culture (the dancing etc).

It was interesting to see how the Palestinians reacted to the UK (I remember the kids found th word 'supermarket' funny). The experience was much more fun and enjoyable than I thought it would be and I liked having a bond with the Palestinian children.

I first met the Palestinians in St Albans on our way to Norfok. It had been a long journey and everyone was very tired but as the coach journey went on, we began to build friendships wiith one another and learn everyone's names (which was challenging!) - something I will never forget is sharing a room with eight girls with only one plug - but we managed somehow. Although there was an age difference between myself and the kids, I found myself treating them all as my younger brothers and sisters.

The residential was a great experience spent in a lovely place! An experience never to forget is swimming and playing games with each other on the beach. The project environment for people visiting a new 'world.' I learned so much over the week I spent with the Palestinians. The week spent with them taught me how fortunate I am and the wide contrist in my normality compared to their normality. Hearing their stories touched me, hearing about horrifying events from children who I have formed such a strong friendship with is overwhelming.

The youth visit was organised thoroughly, we did not have many issues, they were all minor and the leaders managed them with the help of the kids. I really liked how everyone got  along together like a family. One of the girls had an accident where she dislocated her knee, and with the help of everyone we were able to give her the right first aid and support until the ambulance arrived. This was a scary experience but everyone managed well, this shows the strong connection of the group.

I didn't expect it to be like this I enjoyed it more than I thought. I whave learned a lot from the youth visit and would love to do more work with CADFA as they help us understand the Palestinian struggle and help Palestinians tell their stories.

Before the visit I attended various drama group workshops to prepare a drama performance for the Palestinians. When they came I could not take part in the residential however I did take part in the drama activities throughout the week and in the final performance. It was interesting to see their performance as it was the first time I had seen the dancing.

Some of the Palestinians were very good at speaking English and I didn't struggle with translation as much as I thought I would. Showing them around Camden on the day of the performance was odd because I'd seen the area so many times , however they were very interested in the stalls. I am looking forward to the next visit and the possible trip to Palestine.

Dunja loved the kids visit!

The CADFA youth visit just ended. To be honest, it was my favorite. I enjoyed it so much and I had so much fun with all the kids.

Everything started with the residential in Sheringham. This place is so lovely. Not far from the youth hostel where we stayed was the sea. And next to the sea you could see green hills. We all went on top of the hills and enjoyed the beautiful view. There we played games and discussed different issues

English dinner

The second stop was Norchwich, were we did tourism and had an event. I cooked Magluba with Maysa and lot of other people, who helped us. Very late in the night we arrived in Cambridge. We had perfect hosts. THANK YOU AGAIN! In both places, Norwich and Cambridge, we did a prisoners march. People actually really wanted to find out about us and read our leaflets. This really motivated us. Some of us had a competition about the amount of leaflets we gave out.

In London my favorite moments were the sports day, the drama performance and our picnic in Greenwich.

On Friday, the sports day,  we first went to the Emirates Stadium. Palestinians love football. So everyone took lots of pictures. A very special part was the changing room of the Arsenal team. After this we went to to the  Sobel Leisure Centre. We did ice skating and trampolining. It was so nice to see everyone having fun together. For most of the Palstinians it was the first time doing ice skating. I was really happy to share this experience with them.

Saturday afternoon we had the drama performance in Camden lock. I was surprised how much they prepared in such a short time. It was just lovely seeing them together dancing and acting. Thank you!

Greenwich was the last day with the Palestinians for me. Unfortunately I needed to say goodbye, but it was a good end. We had lots of time to hang out, chat and play games together. We also did some interviews for a CADFA film.

All in all i miss you and please come back. I had so much fun with you !!!!

green group:third experiment

Moehmin-
Today, we had a tour in London and its historical places. First, we went passed by Camden Lock, then we saw the UCL (university),then we saw Trafalgar Square, then we went near  Big Ben and the London Eye. It was a very fun experience to go to see new places as I mentioned above.

Shorouq-
I had the most incredible moments in my life! I got to see the places that I really wanted to see just like movies! Big Ben, London Eye, I can't believe that I could actually see these places with my own eyes!

Aya-
Today we visited the Big Ben and London Eye, we also had an interesting meeting with an MP where we discussed human rights and child prisoner rights. It was a fun and interesting day I sure did enjoy it.

Blue Group:
Everyone said what they saw today and we have some very interesting things.
Everyone saw the Big Ben and everyone took pictures of it. Everyone had one thing in common, and its that they all saw and were amazed by the busy streets, and the thousands of people they saw walking, big and small, men and women and we also had a meeting at  Parliament with one of the new members from the Labour Party, and we discussed some of the Palestinian cases such as Child prisoners, how the Israeli soldiers arrest them, how they investigate them. We also told some personal stories, from being shot at and injured, to brothers or fathers being arrested, and how different coloured ID's decide where you live and what kinds of transportation you can use. We also went to the CADFA office and did some drama. And finally we all sat down for dinner on a big bowl of Makloba .

WELL DONE

The Palestinian day on the residential was really good - full of information and discussions and too many pictures to put here now...

In the morning we had a meeting and four of the Palestinian children told us of their experiences.... lack of space, the wall, checkpoints, prisoners -

We talked a lot about child prisoners and the group divided, some making placards for  a demonstration and the other making postcards from Palestine.

After lunch we went to the sea and later climbed a local hill. We sat on the top in the sun and we heard about Jerusalem,  the Al Aqsa, Hebron and Palestinian schools.

Salah ran a dabkeh workshop up there on the hilltop.

After lots more food, we had our first public meeting. This was also a chance for the other Palestinians to give their presentations - and there was more dancing and a lot of discussion.

WELL DONE EVERYONE - it was a busy day and both serious and fun.

Red Group - Day 2

Today was Palestinian day and we enjoyed many presentations from the Palestinian exchanges and created posters with slogans such as "Free Child Prisoners" and "End Palestinian Child Abuse". During the day we went around Sheringham and came across a war memorial dedicated to those who died in WW1, before heading to the beach where we ate some ice-cream. Later in the day, we viewed some traditional Palestinian dance performed for us by four of the Palestinian visitors. Then we returned to the hostel where we had dinner and hosted an event attended by members of the public. During this event the Palestinians informed the public about the situation in Palestine and their own personal experiences under occupation.

Yellow Group - Frist Experience

We went with Momin to walk around Norfolk to explore this place. Nandita made two competitions; the first one to write a list of differences between Palestine and England and the second one was to take photos around this area.
These are some of our photos
